      Marketing Intern Job Summary

      The Marketing Intern will focus on marketing The Herbivorous Butcher as a leading vegan meat and cheese producer within the US. This position will report directly to the Digital Communications Manager and support a variety of traditional and digital marketing aspects of the business. With hands-on experience and certain creative liberties, the Marketing Intern will help the company further develop its online presence and brand profile.

      This job is ideal for college students pursuing a degree in Marketing or related field.

      Wage: $16 per hour

      Hours: 12-15 per week, flexible; potential to move into full-time position with benefits

      Location: On-site once a week to every other week, but can mostly be done remotely



      • Create and execute marketing initiatives with a focus on social media marketing campaigns
      • Identify trends and develop insights to optimize marketing spend and performance


      • Analyze data to measure the results of campaigns
      • Basic research including: market opportunities, competitive research, etc.


      Social Media Administration: 

      1. Update and maintain various Social Media platforms including but not limited to:
        • TikTok
        • Pinterest
        • YouTube
        • Other media as assigned by the Digital Communications Coordinator
      2. Conduct social listening:
        • Industry trends
        • Competitive activity
        • Consumer sentiment

        Customer Service

        1. Ensure a positive experience for all customers:
          • Respond and follow up professionally and timely
          • Retain all correspondence
          • Track and report customer interactions
        2. Complete various tasks and special projects as requested by management


        • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in order to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals inside and outside of the organization
        • Bring an entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, and analytics mindset
        • Excellent customer service skills, customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of personalities, situations and issues
        • Team oriented and willingness to pitch in wherever needed
        • High level of organization and detail orientation to ensure reports, spreadsheets and other tasks are completed professionally and thoroughly 
        • Solid computer experience and able to use and maintain databases and learn various software programs, such as Office, Google, Shopify, WhenIWork, Canva, Adobe, and Basecamp 
        • Able to work unsupervised and solve problems independently, effectively and creatively
        • Able to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively 
        • Understands confidential nature of organization and information


        Incumbent must be able to:

        • Hear and speak in order to communicate with people inside and outside the company in person and on the telephone
        • Continually apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer keyboarding, to create and read documents and reports
        • Must be able to climb staircase of 15+ stairs to access corporate office


        Desired Education and Experience and Qualifications

        • Experience devising and implementing a social media strategy
        • Familiarity with budget development and management
        • Highly creative, with experience in identifying target audiences and devising social campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
        • Self-motivated, curious and inclined to tackle challenges and find solutions
        • Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities and competently manage multiple projects at once
        • Team player with excellent communication skills and proactive mindset
        • Customer-focused and empathetic


        Incumbent must be able to:

        • Use computer, telephone, calculator, copier, and other office equipment
        • Provide own phone/camera 


        The work is primarily indoors in the office, with occasional work in the shop.  Exposed to the kitchen environment with its heat, cold, humidity, odors, spills, and noise. There is exposure to the outdoor environment when walking to the shop which has a separate outdoor entrance.
