DDD NATION!!! The Huli Huli Rib Hot Panini

Oh my our DDD Nation episode comes out this Friday and we're so excited! For those of you in Minnesota or if you've come to visit us at the shop, maybe you've had our Huli Huli Hot Panini sandwich before. Most of the time we offer it when it's sunny and warm out but this time we're offering it during this frigid cold front because it's the sandwich that we feature on the DDD Nation episode!

When I was a kid there was a restaurant at the Micronesia Mall on Guam called Su & Hawaii and I was obsessed with the Huli Huli chicken. It was served with macaroni salad and white rice and it was delicious. The recipe, although served on bread, can be used as a Hawaiian plate with rice and whatever you want and it'll be delicious.

You can catch our episode this Friday, December 5th at 8pmCT on the Food Network!

If you want to buy our Huli Huli Ribs for your sandwich you can find them in the "meat" section of the website or by searching for "Huli Huli Ribs".

Anyways, here's the recipe!

HULI HULI HOT PANINI

Dressing:

Sandwiches:

  1. For the slaw: Combine the jalapeño, red pepper, lime juice, onion, pineapple and salt in a bowl.
  2. For the dressing: Blend the mayonnaise, soy milk, parsley, vinegar, granulated garlic, onion powder, salt, pepper and cilantro until smooth and the cilantro is fully incorporated.
  3. For the sandwiches: Thinly slice the vegan meat and pan-fry until heated through; combine with the huli huli sauce.
  4. Generously drizzle the bottom halves of the hoagie bread with the dressing. Layer on 4 ounces huli huli rib slices and top with a generous amount of dressing and 1/2 cup pineapple slaw. Heat a greased panini press or frying pan on medium-low heat and pan-fry the sandwiches on both sides until golden brown. Transfer to a plate and enjoy!
