      Parking for Grand Opening

      With so many people expected to arrive this weekend for our big debut we've created the map above to help give you some ideas on where to park:

      ST. ANTHONY FALLS RAMP: There is one multi-level ramp and an open lot across the street off University Ave SE and SE 2nd Ave. The ramps here are $5 which is likely your safest bet in the neighborhood and is about a 10-12 minute walk to the shop.

      1st Ave NE & NE 2nd St Ramp: This spot is pre-pay by the hour, so if you're unsure about how long you'll be away from your vehicle it's definitely somewhat of a gamble if you try to cut it close. They do have an app you can download to pay through available at www.parkmobile.com. You can find more specific info about the lot here.

      STREET PARKING: There is metered street parking throughout the neighborhood. On Saturday just about everything has a 2 hour limit, which you can also pay online at mplsparking.com.  On Sunday all the meters are free, so it should be a bit easier to find parking then.

      OTHER OPTIONS? You can ride the Metro Transit! There are a number of bus routes that go right by, or very near, our shop that don't require you to pay a parking fee whatsoever, so encourage people to explore those options as well.

      Come celebrate the opening of the first vegan butcher shop in the United States with The Herbivorous Butcher. After years of perfecting our deliciously deceiving meat-free meats and cheese-free cheeses, we're expanding from a 6-foot farmer’s market table to a brick-and-mortar location in Northeast Minneapolis. We've made it this far through the support of passionate base of local customers, and the generous support of over 700 backers to our Kickstarter campaign.Throughout the Grand Opening Weekend we'll have a number of promotions, giveaways, and a few special surprise appearances as well.       Front of House Staff Job Description

      The Herbivorous Butcher strives to create small-batch, locally-sourced, all-natural vegan meat and cheese alternatives that are always fresh, flavorful, and protein-rich. We pride ourselves on a commitment to produce products of the highest quality while also creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome. We’re seeking like minded individuals who have a passion for food, helping people, and developing a sustainable business to make a positive impact on the community they live in.

      We’re seeking hourly staff members both for full-time (40/hrs) and part-time (15-20) positions to join our team when our vegan butcher shop opens in January.

      Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

      • Providing premier customer service, which includes greeting customers and responding to questions they may have about our products
      • Maintain high standards for product freshness and sanitation
      • Dynamically selling of product by providing customers with information needed to make product-related decisions
      • Selecting and packaging products ordered by customers
      • Filing, maintaining and rotating products and displays
      • Operating cash registers and keeping the FOH area clean and organized
      • Assisting in other duties, as assigned

      Required Qualifications:

      • 18 years of age or older
      • able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service
      • able to read, write and perform simple math problems
      • able to interpret, understand and follow instructions and solve problems
      • able to arrive on time ready to work when scheduled
      • able to lift 50 lbs.

      Preferred qualifications are as follows:

      • food preparation experience
      • able to work well with others as a team member
      • a passion for serving people

      Work Conditions: Front of House staff’s duties are performed primarily in the Deli department. Work includes walking, standing for prolonged periods, and lifting deli products weighing up to 50 pounds. Duties also include frequent interaction with customers and associates.
