Portland Vegan Beer & Food Festival

Portland welcomed the second annual Vegan Beer and Food Festival on June 11, and the day could not have been more perfect. Zidell Yards sits on the waterfront, a cool breeze filled the air, and we could feel the excitement as we entered the grounds.

We settled in and awaited the start of the VIP hour to see who would be first in line, and our new friend Andrรฉ achieved the coveted spot. Find him on Instagram:ย @UnhealthyVegan! He was quickly followed by many of our other Instagram friends, such as @wokwildside @thisistheveganlife @youngheike @plantbasedfatkid and @veganbygrace.

Then the notifications started rolling in as everyone began to chow down on their Walking Chicken and Waffles.

The line didn't stop, and we sold out close to closing time.

We also spent some time chatting with The Vegan Zombie, you can click here to watch the video.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out and showed us some love. We had a blast!

      Our Visit to Farm Sanctuary

We had a few days off between the Portland and Los Angelesย Eat Drink Vegan festivals, so we reached out to our friends at Farm Sanctuary to request a tour. They even graciously allowed us to reschedule last minute, and it was one of the highlights of our trip.

Volunteer Alicia showed us around and introduced us to all of the amazing animals who call Farm Sanctuary their home. They've experienced so many different kinds of hardship that come with the animal agriculture industry, and to see them thriving and letting go of their pasts was so inspiring and heart warming.

We met Yoda, Farm Sanctuary's very first llama. You can read his story here. He's such a character and frequently visits Alicia while she's in her office to ring a bell for treats.

      We met pigs...

      And sheep...

And more! We'll all admit to falling in love with one of Farm Sanctuary's newest family members: Cinder. She is a pigmy goat who had experienced severe neglect (click here to read her story), and she's a sassy little lady. Soon, we will submit the paperwork to sponsor her while she awaits her forever home. We're so happy to welcome her to The Herbivorous Butcher family!

You can sponsor an animal at Farm Sanctuary, too! Click here to learn more. Thank you to Alicia, Breezy, and the rest of the Farm Sanctuary team for being amazing humanimals and such wonderful hosts! We'll share updates on Richard and Liza soon.ย

Vegan Beer and Food Festival Menu

Our menus for both Portland and Los Angeles Vegan Beer and Food Festivals are set! We made a special video to announce it, with the help of the amazing Mike Ross. Take a look:

We'll also have foot-long Korean and Cajun Jerky for everyone to enjoy.

Portland takes place Saturday, June 11 at Zidell Yards, and we're serving up a waffle bowl piled with mashed potatoes, sausage gravy and fried chicken topped with syrup. Let the drooling commence.

Los Angeles is exactly one week after Portland on Saturday, June 18 at the Rose Bowl. We're making a bunless chicken sandwich with bacon, garlic pepper havarti, ranch, lettuce, tomato and onion. Extra points to anyone who can fit a whole bite of this bad boy in their mouths.

Like everything we do, this is #allveganeverything. You can still buy tickets on the Vegan BeerFest website, and we'd love to see you there!
